The Deutscher Reichsanzeiger und Preußischer Staatsanzeiger (German Imperial Gazette and Prussian Official Gazette) appeared until April 1945 as the official press organ of the German Reich and Prussian State.
A digitisation project of the University Library of Mannheim makes the Official Gazette and its predecessors accessible online.
Using automatic text recognition, the scans were made machine-readable and can be searched in full text and browsed in a viewer.
The paper is a valuable source for legal and economic history issues: With the help of commercial register entries, patent applications and bankruptcy notices, data on persons and companies can be determined. The lists of casualties of the First World War were published in the Reichsanzeiger, as were the “lists of expatriates” of persons forcibly deprived of their citizenship in Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1941.
